Terms of Use
Last updated:
In short
- Candidate Ally is free during the beta and you must be 18 or over to use it.
- You own what you put in and what Alex writes for you.
- Alex can make mistakes. Check everything before you send it to an employer — you are responsible for what you submit.
- We help you find and prepare for jobs; we don't apply for you and we can't guarantee you a job.
- Don't misuse the service. Your rights as a consumer under EU and Irish law are not affected by these terms.
1. Who we are and these terms
Candidate Ally is operated by SecreLab Limited, a company registered in Ireland (company number 790816), with its registered office at 77 Camden Street Lower, Dublin, D02 XE80, Ireland("we", "us"). These Terms of Use apply to your use of the Candidate Ally website, app, Alex (the AI assistant in the app) and any related channels such as Telegram (together, the "Service").
By using the Service you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
2. Who can use Candidate Ally
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You may use the Service only for your own job search, not on behalf of another person or as a recruiter or employer.
3. Your account
You may start with a guest account that lives in your browser, or create an account with your email address. Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. A guest account can be lost if you clear your browser data. Tell us at contact@candidateally.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. The service and the beta
Candidate Ally helps you with your job search: it learns your background, searches for job listings that match it, scores and evaluates them, and helps you tailor your CV, draft messages and prepare for interviews.
The Service is in beta and is currently provided free of charge. Features may change, be limited (for example, daily usage limits) or be removed, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance; you will only pay if you choose a paid plan, under terms shown to you at that time.
5. What Candidate Ally does not do
- It does not apply to jobs, send messages to employers or recruiters, or act on your behalf with anyone. You decide where to apply and you submit every application yourself.
- It does not guarantee interviews, job offers or any particular outcome.
- It is not a recruitment agency or employment agency, and it does not provide legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. Information about salaries, visas or employment law is general information only.
6. Your content
"Your content" means what you provide to the Service (such as your CV, profile, messages and documents) and what the Service generates for you (such as tailored CVs, drafts and evaluations). As between you and us, you own your content.
You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process and display your content only as needed to provide, secure and improve the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or that remain for a short time in backups. We do not use your content to train AI models.
You confirm you have the right to provide your content, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. Only include other people's personal data (for example, a referee's details) where it is lawful and necessary.
If you make a chat public, anyone with the link can read it. Only share what you are comfortable making public.
7. Accuracy of AI output
Alex uses artificial intelligence. Its output can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, and job listings, company information and salary data come from third-party sources we don't control. Job scores and fit evaluations are opinions to help you prioritise, not facts about you or your chances.
Before you rely on any output — and especially before you send a CV, cover letter or message to an employer — check it carefully. You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you submit to employers. Do not present skills, experience or qualifications you do not have.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, harmful or fraudulent;
- use it to create false or misleading CVs, credentials, references or applications;
- upload content that is unlawful, infringes others' rights, or contains malware;
- try to bypass usage limits, security or safety measures, or trick Alex into ignoring its instructions;
- scrape, copy, reverse engineer or resell the Service, or access it with bots or automated scripts, or create accounts in bulk;
- use the Service to build a competing product, or on behalf of an employer or recruiter to assess candidates;
- interfere with or overload the Service or its infrastructure.
9. Job listings and third-party services
The Service shows and links to job listings and websites run by others. We don't control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices, or for any dealings you have with employers. Your use of third-party services (such as Telegram, job boards or employer application systems) is subject to their own terms.
10. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these terms. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Your data in the account menu. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and explain why, and give you the chance to export your data. We may also end the beta or the Service; if we do, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export your data.
12. Disclaimers
We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any other promises — including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its output will be accurate or lead to a job. Nothing in these terms affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
13. Limitation of liability
We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for loss of opportunity, employment or income resulting from your job search decisions, or for losses caused by your breach of these terms. Because the Service is free during the beta, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service is limited to €100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
14. Changes to the service and these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or paid plans or when the law changes. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don't agree with the new terms, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts of that country or in Ireland. Before going to court, please contact us — most issues can be resolved quickly.
